Admission:

Admission is FREE for all visitors except during certain special events when charges may apply (See ' what's on' for further information) Dogs are welcome (support dogs only inside the buildings).

Visitors with disabilities

Locomotion is fully wheelchair accessible. However, the museum is a partially open-air site and occasionally it may be necessary to use outdoor footpaths up to 1km in length in order to access all of the museum’s buildings.

Usually we are able to provide a wheelchair accessible bus service, but to avoid disappointment, please ring in advance on 01388 777999 to check that the bus will be running when you visit.

Unfortunately, no disabled access is available at present on to our steam train. We hope to remedy this in the future, and are currently restoring a wheelchair accessible coach.

Refreshments

Our Platform 7 Café, recently reopened under new management, is open daily and serves light lunches and refreshments.
Try the delicious Royal George Sausages, and even purchase a few to enjoy at home.

Gift Shop

There’s something for everyone in our Gift Shop, which offers a wide range of souvenirs and gifts. For railway enthusiasts, there’s a comprehensive selection of videos and books.
Younger visitors will enjoy browsing through our wide range of Thomas the Tank Engine merchandise, including Take Along Thomas trains, playsets and accessories.
